Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct is a spin off from its older version that was on Nintendo 64. Killer instinct is a fighting game that focuses on combos the longer the combo the greater the damage. Killer instinct is a fun and different fighting game. It fun and free, but that’s how they get you in. To those that played the 64 version on Killer Instinct you’ll see some of the old characters you know and love. There’s Jago, Saber wolf, and Orchid and so on, so let talk about the good stuff.

Story Line

Killer Instinct really doesn’t have story line but each individual character does.

This character name is Jago. His back ground story is Tibetan monk on the path of enlightenment by fighting the evil within himself. He joins the tournament to help the battle within himself.

 

This charter is Sabrewulf. Sabrewulf is affected with the Lycanthropy disease and he joins the tournament in look for a cure.

 

This charter Chief Thunder. Thunder is the chief of Native Americans and joins the tournament in search for answers for his brother Eagle 

 

This character is Orchid. In the older version of Killer Instinct her name was B. Orchid, but her story is that she is a secret agent; that is investigating the Killer Instinct tournament.

 

Glacius is next. His story is that he an alien that is on a mission to get the spices that ultartec has captured, but crash landed and held captive till this upcoming tournament.

 

Sadira is the leader of Red Eyes Rylai Assassins, and she has watched the tournament and decided to join and eliminate all of her competition. 

 

Online Multiplayer

Killer Instinct has a fun online. You have to know how to play to go online because people know there controls online.  The control’s for Killer Instinct are like Street Fighter; for example let’s look at Jago’s moves.

He has 4 Special Moves that can be done. There so much more that can be learned when you know how to do those move. Those move can be strung into a combo, or used to start a combo, and link combos together. Each character has their own move set that can be learned and their own combos. The connection for online is pretty fast along with everything else. Sometimes you will join a laggy match (that means you movements are delayed).

Graphics and Sounds

Graphics are a hell of an improvement from when Killer Instinct first appeared. Killer Instinct has clear and crisp graphics. The sound effects are funny to me in Killer Instinct. I say that because when you’re on the verge of winning or losing; your health bar reaches a danger state (look at the picture below) the winning player can do a combo to finish the other player. That combo is called an ultra-combo and that triggers that player ultra-combo music.

   My Thoughts

Killer Instinct was hard to grasp at first with all the button commands, continuing combos, and linking combos. At first I sucked at Killer instinct and that made me not want to play it, I’m ashamed to say. That made me more determined to understanding the game. So I started to play Killer Instinct more and found out more combo and stopped button mashing (pressing random buttons).  After I got the hang of the game I started to kick ass. I’m not the best yet but I know my way around. This is the best fighting game out and it’s free, but if you don’t buy and characters you’ll get bored of this game. I never played the Nintendo version of this game, but owning the Xbox One version made me respect the older version. If I could paraphrase this game in on word it would be Godlike. My favorite character is Shadow Jago (picture below) because his move reminds me of Ryu from Street fighter, and he looks badass. Shadow Jago is an easy character to understand because their move are alike.   

Forza Motorsport 5

Forza Motorsport is the next gen formula racing game that has beautiful graphics, amazing cars, and awesome game play. If you didn’t know about or haven’t played Forza, it’s a formula racing game that has very exotic cars in it, and they’re known for their gameplay and customizations. You can spend hours on the most perfect paint job or fix up your car, or just race your heart away. Forza is an Xbox exclusive. Now that you know about Forza let’s get into the game play.

Story line

Forza 5 is the fifth game of the series of Forza. Forza is known for its clean formula racing, beautiful exotic cars, and its realistic graphics. If you don’t know what formula racing is let me explain formula racing is competitive racing that is clean. What I mean by clean is no crashing into another person, no nitrous, and no police. Forza 5 has many races and those races are bunched up into leagues and those leagues are split into series by car type. There are different series like muscle cars, mini coups, and exotic cars. They have a currency in game so you are able to buy cars and customize your vehicle, but in order to get this money have to do races, and depending on your difficulty making money can be hard. That in game currency is called CR and that is short for Credits.

Now here’s a picture of some of the cars and the one in the picture is the E21 Lotus this car has crazy stats. Its fast, has good handling, good acceleration, and good breaking. This car will take some time to unlock (depending on your difficulty). I’ve played this game for hours straight and it took me a long time till I got to 100,000 CR. If you better than me at the game and can handle the harder difficulties you will be able to get that type of car faster, and get into the leagues faster.

 

Online Multiplayer

I haven’t played online on forza online but I can tell you what I think it would be like. Judging that it is a racing game people well be play dirtier than computer. One thing that I do know is that the online too forever to connect to a match, but hopefully that has now changed.

Graphics and Sounds

The music for Forza is beautiful, along with the Sound effects of the game. The game sound effects of the game sound so realistic. You can hear the engine rev to the gears shift and the tires as you drift around the corner. The graphics of the game are captivating you can see how much detail they put into this game. Each car look right down to every detail.

My Thoughts

I feel that Forza is a fun game. I wasn’t into clean racing games; I found them to be boring. I don’t know if I it was because I was young, but now that I’m older I enjoy the cleanliness of the racing. Don’t take me wrong the wrong way I like dirty street racing game, but Froza is my vacation game away from the Need for Speed. When I first bought Froza I played this game day in day out, but other games came out. I did get bored of the game, but Froza is still a good racing game to me. One thing I didn’t like was if you put the game on a hard setting it added another button that you didn’t use to what you already knew. I think that because that was my first Forza that I own. Battlefield 4 (BF4) is a First Person Shooter (FPS) that looks very realistic that is on next gen consoles and the Xbox 360 and PS3. This FPS is just stunning it just look, runs, and just plays great. BF4 is a fast paste shooter that involves ground, water, and air warfare. You can fly jets or rain hell upon your enemies in an AC-130; take the fight to sea and drive a RC boat. This game is so well rounded. Let’s stop talking hype and talk game.

Story Line

BF4 story mode is set 6 years after BF3. Now after the war has ended Admiral Chang manage to overthrow Chinas government, and America and Russia are still at each other necks. Admiral Chang blamed America for the assassination of Jin Jié Chinas future voice of Peace. If China is successful Russia will join them, then all hope is gone.

Online multiplayer

 BF4 multiplayer is insane and feels like a war game. When first playing this game it feel a little different from BF3, but it’s a good different. The controls are what’s different. When playing the movement are fluently fast and the reaction to button time is fast also. Customization on BF4 is confusing at first because there are so many options for customization. You have sights for you gun, your class gadget, and class abilities. The maps for BF4 are huge, but you do have vehicles that you can drive around.  Leveling up in BF4 is challenging at first but around level 30 you get the catch of it. There are 120 level on BF4.

Graphics and Sound

The Graphics of BF4 are Realistic when playing took my time to look at the scenery of the game and guns. For the new gen console the graphics are breath taking form the movement of the water to the rain, to the sunshine, and the vehicles. There are no other words to define BF4 graphic, besides pure beauty. The sound for BF4 sound just like the gun themselves. They captured the sounds beautifully, so if you shot some on form far away it sounds like it’s from far away. The sound effects sound correct and realistic.

My Thoughts

I enjoyed BF3 so BF4 was a must to get. When first playing BF4 it was a challenged because I didn’t know what gun was good, or what gun I liked. So BF4 takes time to understand it. I liked that BF4 has a big gun selection to pick from. I love that I can drive, pilot, or captain a vehicle. I really enjoy BF4 new feature that’s call Levolution, and that is where the map under goes a level change. So if you were on the map called Siege of Shanghai the Levelution is the tower clasping and if you’re close enough you can die (look at the picture below). In certain game modes the levelution can change the flow of the game. If you want a non-futuristic FPS BF4 is the way to go. I haven’t deemed any weapon because I want to played with them all.

 

Plant vs. Zombies Garden Warfare

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare (PvZGW) is a third person shooter (TPS) that is exclusively on Xbox one and Xbox 360. Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare is a fun game that is only online, but it’s a different type of TPS because of its own Plant vs. Zombie feel. PvZGW is a spinoff from its successor: Plants vs. Zombies and Plants vs. Zombies 2: it’s about time, and It went from a mobile app to a next gen console.

Story Line

Story mode that is called Garden ops is just like the mobile app Plants vs. Zombies because your main objective is protecting Crazy Dave garden that is being attacked by waves of Dr. Zomboss’s zombies. Crazy Dave is the leader of the plants.

 You have an arsenal of plants at your disposal. If you played the mobile version you might noticed some of the plants on the console version. You have the regular pea shooter, ice-shroom, and so much more. Now you have to defend your garden from 10 waves of zombies and 2 of those waves are boss wave, which depending on your difficulty can be very challenging, and you play as any four main plants characters from Crazy Dave side.

Those four plants are the Pea Shooter, the Cactus, the Sunflower, and the Chomper. These characters have their own unique move set.

The Pea Shooter is heavy hitter he is like a solider. He shoots peas (hint at his name) that is pretty powerful, and has 3 moves. First, move is called Hyper Pea, and what happen is his movement get quicker and jump higher. Second, move is called Chili Bean Bomb, and that is where he shoots out a chili bean that explodes. Third and final move is called Gatling Pea and what happens is the Pea Shooter turns into a Gatling gun with set ammo that shoots peas, and becomes stationary.

The Cactus is the strongest of the plants, and is the sharp shooter of the four. First, move is the Potato Mine which is mine that can be placed almost anywhere, but you only get three. Second move is the Garlic Drone is a deployable flying drone that can drop a Cornstrike and shoot at zombies. Third and last move is the Tallnut which is cover that can be placed almost anywhere.

The Sunflower is the healer of the plants that is short to mid-range shooter. The Sunflower first move is the Heal Beam which heals plants. The second move is Sun Beam is like the Pea Shooter Gatling Pea, but her beam shoots consistently. The last move is Heal Flower and that heals teammates faster than the Heal Beam.

The Chomper is a close-rage character, and can take any zombie. His first move is called Goop, which slows down zombies. His second move is called Barrow, and he digs underground for a short amount of time. His last move is called Spike Weed. That move is a trap that makes zombies immobile for a couple of seconds.

 Dr. Zomboss is the leader of the zombies. Just like plants Dr. Zomboss has a massive army. If you are playing Garden Ops the zombies are all Ai (controlled by computers), and not only that they have unplayable zombies on Garden Ops.

Now on the zombie’s side you have four zombies that you can play as, which are the Foot Soldier, the Scientist, the All-Star, and the Engineer. They also have their own move set. 

The Foot Solider is a medium to long-range character. The first move that the Foot Solider has is ZPG (self-explanatory). Next on his move set is Zombie Stink Cloud that is a purple cloud that use for cover.  The last move is his Rocket Jump. This lets the Foot Soldier get to high heights.

The scientist is powerful close range shooter with a strong shotgun like weapon. His first move is Warp and that where he warps from where he is and gets closer to you. The Scientist second move is the Zombie Heal Station (self-explanatory). His last move is the Sticky Bomb which is a timed sticky grenade.

The All-Star has the most health out of the group and he’s a mid to long-range. Now the All-Star have Dummy Shield which is deployable cover. His second move is the Sprint Tackle, it’s a move that charges you into an enemy. His last move is the Imp Punt. This move he punts an Imp (small zombie) that explodes.

The Engineer is the Mr. fix-it of the group he can builds turrets and transporters and he’s close-range person. The Engineer first move is the Jack Hammer; this is like the Pea Shooter Hyper Pea just vice versa. He’s on a jack hammer. The second move is Zombot with is vice versa to the Garlic Drone, and instead of Corn Strike its Cone Strikes. His last move is the Sonic Grenade that stuns enemies.

 Online Multiplayer

The multiplayer for PvZGW is insanely fun. They have fun game modes that their own twist, there customization is funny you can make are funny. There are also taunts you can unlock, there customization is endless and funny all-around. The movements of the game and controls are fast. The downside is that there are a lot of kids that play this game and it gets annoying, but the game is for kids. Another thing about PvZGW the Down loadable content (DLC) is free.

 Graphic and Sound

The Graphics and of PvZGW is amazing on the Xbox One. The graphics are sharp clear and almost realistic. The sound affects sound just like a war, but Plants vs. Zombies style.

My Thoughts
I loved the app Plants vs. Zombies and the sequel Plats vs. Zombies: it’s about time, so when I caught wind that they’re making a TPS out of Plants vs. Zombies I was game. I stopped playing all the games I owned to play this game. I like that I can play as the zombies because on the app there are only certain game modes that you can play as a Zombie. Now it’s a reality that the game that was 2D is now 3D. This game is pure fun regardless of the age it was made for. I like the customizations that you can do to every charter. You make your charter look wacky or keep them as they come. The only down fall that I’ve found to be annoying is that this game is hard to play with friends, so when I try to play with a friend its difficult to join their match or vice versa. Other than that I love this game and I still play till this day. If you love the app you’re bound to love this.
